Artist: Lethal Fix

Date: 8 July 2006

MM - Hi lads, thanks for agreeing to take part in this interview with us we really appreciate it.
Nikki Wilde - No Problem
Joe Alexander - Any time doll.

MM -
Would you like to give us a brief history on the band, how it all came about, how it's evolved and where you call home etc?
NW - Me and Joe started playing together 5 years ago, bands got started and collapsed, and through the years we found Billy, formed Lethal Fixx then found Jonny and finally Jade and here we are today.

JA - We started off playing in pubs and just before Jade joined we’d finally got up to the bigger venue’s.

NW - South East London.

MM - How do you feel the bands sound has developed since it originally started?
NW - It started with classic rock but we’ve managed to find our own more modern take.

JA - I think each member of the band has had a major influence on the sound as they’ve joined over the years, We’re all into really different shit, but it kind of all blends together.

MM - How would you describe your music?
NW - Like an empty bottle of Jack, ya stick your tongue inside hoping to find some more.

MM - Who do you see as your target audience?
JA - Strippers!, never argue with seeing a pretty face in the front row, We tried to get gigs in strip clubs, not cos its cliché’, just cos we wanted to see some for free, but only one would let us play and then they wanted us to pay fifty quid to see some action!

MM - At what age did you become interested in being a performer and what/who inspired you to join a band?
NW - I was 14, Oasis released 'Definitely Maybe', Noel Gallagher said ... “anyone can pick up and play a guitar” ... so I did, and I’m still trying to learn how to play the fuckin’ thing.

JA - He fucking well is, the number of times I have to cover for his sorry drunken ass! For me I guess you could go through the usual list of Slash, Keef, (Jonny) Thunders, Ace (Freshly) etc but the first time I heard Tracii Guns playing 'Electric Gypsy' followed by 'Sex Action' I was fucked for life!

MM - Have any members of the band been in other bands previous to Lethal Fixx?
JA - Billy was in a two bit shit new metal band cos he’s …

NW - … we saved his sorry ass. I was in a glam punk band, Joe joined for a while before Lethal Fixx was formed.

JA - Jade was roaming and Jonny was in the pub, so they didn’t have time to be in a band.

MM - Where did the bands name come from and what does it represent to you?
NW - We took a while looking for something that represented the type of addiction we had to the music we we’re playing.

MM - Can you remember any of the other names that were considered at the time?
JA - Nah, My mind was somewhere else at the time!

MM - The band recently recorded your new EP ‘Beautiful People’ which is due for release in August.  How did that go and how long did it rake from the initial stages of writing the songs to the EP’s actual completion?
JA - Most of the EP was written in the past 6 months, except 2 track, which we’d been playing for a year or so, crowd favourites.

NW - Getting up at 9 am’s a bitch but when it's sunny and you got a beer and are strolling into the studio

JA - It kicks ass.

MM -  Would you like to tell us a few thoughts or stories behind the songs included on this release?
NW - '1x Love, 1x Life' is about not being afraid to be yourself.

JA - 'Slave Train' is about people who have abandoned their dreams just cos someone told em they had to get a mortgage and pay for the wife and kids. It’s almost in respect for them, cos I couldn’t do it! I’d be bored.

NW - As much as people seem to think 'Mainline Traxx' is drug related, I can’t believe how many time’s I’ve had to explain that it's not about shooting up heroin, It’s about fuckin’ up the all the things you love just for a short lived cheap thrill.

JA - 'Miss Lonely Hearts' is as close to a ballad as your gonna get on this EP.  It's about moving on and not letting life pass you by.  'Beautiful People' is for all the fuckers out their night after night,

NW - It’s a tribute to all the fans, Fuck Kate Moss, it’s them who keep Rimmel in business,

JA - The entire EP has a common theme of living for the moment and having a ball.

MM - How does the song writing process work within the band, is it down to one particular person or do you all get involved?
NW - I’m the creative one but unfortunately my crayons don’t always hit the paper.

JA - Sometimes they come no where fuckin’ near!

NW - The starting bit can come from any of us, some lyrics me or Jade might write, a beat Billy will play, a dirty riff Joe will forget as soon as he’s played it …

JA - … Jonny has yet to have any creative input as he’s still collecting porn to cover his flight cases with!

MM -  Which do you prefer being holed up in the studio writing and recording tracks, or out on the road gigging and connecting with your fans?
NW - Studio I like, rehearsals are shit, Live is where it’s at, it makes being in a room for hours every week with those fuckers worth while…

JA - Your normally half cut so you ain’t gotta clue where you are!... Seriously, gig’s are the moment, I’d play every night if we could.  We’re not after the millions, or the fame.

NW - I am!

JA - Well I wouldn’t say no but just to get to play every night to our fans would kick ass.

MM - What song is your personal favourite to play live and which one(s) really get the crowd going wild?
JA - 'Miss Lonely Hearts', when I nail that solo you’ll see a smile creep over my face every time, the crowds reaction, let alone Jonny’s, it is always awesome although I wish he wouldn’t bite me during it, and 'Beautiful People'.  A few months ago they started chanting “you are beautiful people” cos we’d finished the set and not played it n’ that was something special.

NW - 'Mainline Traxx' cos every fucker thinks it's about shooting up heroin.

MM -  What’s the most rock n roll moment the band have had so far to date?
JA - We met Jonny, it all went tits up from there.

NW - Where do I begin, from drinking a cocktail of white spirit and his own piss, pissing on stage, looking for his bottle of Jack on stage (whilst the headliners we’re playing), and him and Jade getting arrested for indecent exposure, oh and getting cheered out of the police station by entire cop shop when me and Joe went to pick them up.

MM - For you personally what bands do you think were the most influential from: (a) the 70’s, (b) the 80’s, (c) the 90’s, and (d) today?
NW - A) The Rolling Stones

         B) The Rolling Stones

         C) The Rolling Stones

         D) Keef, any man who can live through all that then almost die falling out a coconut tree deserves to be ledged.

MM - How has the internet helped spread the word about the band and do you feel downloading is harming the scene of helping to keep it alive?
NW - MySpace seems to be the one thing that everyone’s tuned into.

JA - Downloading’s ok cos any true fan will always go and buy the real thing or go see em live.

NW - Anyone else is a cunt.

MM - Now for your sales pitch, why should our readers buy ‘Beautiful People’ instead of something else? What sets your music apart from the hundreds of other EP’s released right now so to speak?
NW - Real Band.  Seems to be one in a million nowadays ... and we’re not miserable, have you seen the sorry sack of shit that is the Artic Monkey’s …

JA -  ... and all the other clone’s.  No seriously, if ya wanna record that’s gonna sit nicely in-between all your classics then buy this one cos you're all stuck with us for a while.

MM -  Are there any other upcoming bands that you'd suggest people keep an ear out for?
NW - Red Star Rebels,

JA - yeah, beautiful people, beautiful fans!

MM -  Finally do you have any words of wisdom for our readers out there?
NW - In the words of Jonny Slade “Never stick a penny in ya foreskin!, it ain’t shits and giggles”.

*MM - Cheekier than a box full of monkeys, ladies and gentleman we give you Lethal Fixx.  You can check out some of their kick ass songs here ... www.myspace.com/lethalfixx and here www.lethalfixx.com
