MM - Introduce
the band members to us and where do you call home?
Jimmy, guitar , vocals, Pete, bass, backing vox & al, drums &
backing vox & home the past year & a half has been the studio
where we wrote the new album.
MM - When was the band formed and how did you all discover each other's
mutual taste in making music?
The band was formed in 1994 by Jimmy Nerve with original members Cal and
Jason. we had been in previous bands together so the transformation was
pretty easy.
MM - The bands music has been compared
to the likes of Green Day and Blink 182 only better! How would you
describe your music and would you say these comparisons are an accurate
description or not.
I would say our music is fun & uplifting & totally rocking, as
for the comparisons they are inevitable when you play a particular style
of music they may apply in some cases but not in others.
MM - What bands did you grow up listening to and how did they help in
creating the style of music you perform today?
I listened to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy, AC/DC, The Police to name a
few & I think that they helped with their enthusiasm for what they
were doing & that drove me to play the style that I like.
MM - Do
you consider yourself a fan orientated and accessible band? Are you
willing to chat over a cold beer with you fans after a gig?
Definitely if at all possible & if anyone wants to chat we always
try to sit down and find out their views & if a cold beer is
involved even better.
MM - The band have been lucky enough to play with some big names over
the last few years. Who did you have the most fun hanging out with and
how have the different groups of fans reacted to you as the support act?
For me personally it was a total blast touring with the guys from
Therapy? It was great from beginning to end & we got to see them
every night for free. The fans were different every night but we seemed
to go down pretty well most nights.
MM - What do you hope people to take away from your music and your
performances?
Basically we want people to have a good time sing, dance to do what
makes them feel good but we also hope they like our music.
MM - So far the band have received a very positive response from the
USA, especially amongst the college radios. How did they latch on to
your songs?
Just from doing fanzines interviews etc.. and the label we are on only
has American bands so it was easy to get the reviews and shit.
MM - Would you say that coming from Glasgow rather than say, London or
Manchester has hindered you as a band at all?
I don’t think coming from Glasgow has caused us many problems other
than some people can’t understand us. As long as you have good songs
it doesn't matter where you come from as people will find you.
MM - If you had to choose only one of the following options, which one
would you choose?
(a) a short lived career that will earn you fame and fortune
(b) the opportunity to make music for the next 50 years but without any
real recognition.
I reckon A because if I had earned a fortune I could afford to make
music for the next 50 years & people might come and check it out if
they had already heard of me.
MM - Which Nerve song is your personal favourite and why? Which one
sends the crowds crazy at your gigs?
My personal favourite is a new one called 'If looks could Kill' from the
new album because the drum fills are a main feature, we sometimes do a
ponked up 'Tainted Love' & that generally gets the fans moving. Fans
can keep up to date on our website www.nervenest.com
& we have a few dates planned later in the year
MM - The band have a number of CD's released at present. Would you
like to tell us a little bit about them and where they be obtained from?
We have a few C.D.'s out and you can get them from our website or by
sending money to our record company or stopping by a show and checking
out or merch stand.
MM - What's your idea of fun? Are you serious by nature or a bundle of
mischief?
My idea of fun is a night out with my mates so that I have an excuse to
get up to mischief as normally I’m pretty serious and terminally
sensible.
MM - Talking of having a sense of humour, the band have done a
cover version of both the theme from 'Cheers' and also the Billy Joel
hit 'Uptown Girl'. What on earth possessed you to cover these two songs
in particular. Are there any other songs you are just dying to do covers
of?
We done these cover because it's really for winning the crowd. Like when
they're not listening we throw in a cover that everyone knows, rip the
piss out of it and people usually react, good or bad it's still a
reaction rather than none.
MM - Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know.
I started playing drums in a pipe band and wore a kilt most weekends in
the summer.
MM - Who do you think influenced the world of rock more than any
other person, for better or for worse?
Joe Strummer
MM - Of all the rock musicians out there today, who do you think really
needs to get a grip on reality and why?
Axl Rose, cause nobody cares anymore.
MM - One of you has drunk way too much at a party, will the others take
you home or leave you there and laugh at you?
Leave you there, piss on your head, shave a bollock and your pubes and
hook you up with a transvestite called Vinny.
MM - Lastly, is there
anything you would like to say to all your fans out there?
