Artist: Sixty 10

Date:  5 August 2002

Hot new Melodic Rock acts are hard to come by these days, but here's one to watch as they are definitely going places. Sixty-10 is the name and rock n roll is the game.

MM - Please, do introduce yourself to the readers. Who are the members of Sixty-10 and where do you all hail from?

Sixty-10 is Bunnie Blue on Bass & Backing Vocals, Sonic 14 on Drums, and Randall on Lead Vocals & Guitars. We hail from Hollywood ... Hollywood, FL.

MM -
Do tell us the story behind Sixty-10, how did it all begin and where did Stoney Records get into the picture?

We played together in the past as a 4 piece. Two years ago we got together to make magic happen and here we are now. We met Chip on the GSMJ tour in 2001 and knew that he would be the right producer for our material.

MM - The bands name Sixty-10 is quite a quirky one. Is it just a play on numbers or does it have some darker hidden meaning?

The one after 69, or someone who is barely alive.

MM - For the uneducated, how would you describe your music? What bands have you grown up with that perhaps influenced the songs that you create today?

We are basically nu-breed, which meshes powerpop with modern elements of today, but without sacrificing the melodies and harmonies. Some say we have a youthful exuberance. We were influenced from everything from Cheap Trick to The Beatles +.

MM -
The band have just released their debut album 'Sixty-10'. How long did it actually take to record the album and did you find it an enjoyable experience or a total nightmare?
We recorded the album in 5 days down here in South Florida. We would have liked to have had a couple of months, but hopefully we will have that opportunity shortly. It was an enjoyable experience, but it was like running a marathon with the amount of time that we were given.

MM - Would you like to tell us a little bit about some of the songs off the new album. Go on make a sales pitch to those readers out there that might be thinking of buying it!

If you want to buy an album that will not only be in your CD player for months, but something you can come back to on a regular basis you will love Sixty-10. People hail it as the melodic rock release that people have been waiting years to come out and that is a great compliment.

MM - OK, You've got them sold on the idea. They want to purchase a copy of your album. How and where can they do this?

Sixty-10.com, or stoneyrecords.com

MM - Do you have any plans to tour now that the new album has been unleashed on to the unsuspecting public? Any chance we might see you over this side of the pond some time?

We are going to be playing a few select shows and would love to come over to England. At this point we are going to get this signed to a major and go from there.

MM -
What do you hope people will take away from listening to your music?

Cool Vibes, Good Times & Timeless Memories. Hopefully it will be able to connect to a piece of your life that you can relate to. Also, the songs will stick in your head!

MM - To work with Chip ZNuff on the production of the new album must have been like a dream come true for you guys. Is there anybody else you would love to work with on future projects?

It was great working with Chip. Anyone that can get the best out of us like Chip did on this album.

MM - What do you think is more important - strong in the mind, or strong in the body?

Strong in the mind, because the only person that you can change is yourself. You can push yourself to reach higher plateaus.

MM - What in life are you most grateful for?

Randall: I'm most grateful for the opportunity to be able to have this album get critical acclaim from the masses. Also, the opportunity to wake up everyday and have a chance to do something great.

Bunnie Blue: I always wanted to make the world a better place and make people happy and I'll be able to do it through Sixty-10.

MM - At what age did you decide you wanted to be a musician/performer? Who did you want to be when you were younger? Who was your idol?

Bunnie Blue: When I saw Gene Simmons on Headbangers Ball, I knew that is what I wanted to do.

Randall: At 16, I started singing with a guy who lived on the end of my street. I took his girlfriend so that was the end of that. Growing up, I looked up to David Lee Roth and Robin Zander.

MM - Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know.

Randall: I work myself to death during the week.

Bunnie Blue: If I told you then many people would know.

MM - Where did the inspiration for the cover art come from on your album and did you do it yourself or get someone else to do it?

The inspiration fro the cover came on an inspired night. Wacky concept, but we wanted it to mesh with the sound of the album. We had a graphics designer take care of the actual artwork and he did a great job.

MM -
What is your long term aim, what do you personally hope to achieve?

1st Album - Gold
2nd Album - Double Platinum
3rd Album - Multi-Platinum
4th Album - You know where this is going
Burn-Out Not Fade Away
Behind The Music

MM - Are any of you guys regular cyber surfers and if so do you tend to hunt around the web for different sites, or do you tend to check out he same old favourites?

Randall: On the music front, I'll check out melodicrock.com, rocknworld.com, antimusic.com, heartofrock.com, your great site & Sixty-10.com.

MM - What was the very first album that you ever bought for yourself and did you ever think that one day you'd release an album yourself that the kids would go out an buy? Could you have ever imagined being the poster on somebody's bedroom wall?

Bunnie Blue: Van Halen '1984', it's been a dream for the longest time to achieve that kind of success.

Randall: Probably Van Halen II or Cheap Trick 'One On One'. Good things come to those who give it 111%.

MM - Are there any bands out there at the moment that really turn you on musically? What CD's are you listening to at present?

Randall: Just got the new Superdrag, Which I really dig. The new Jimmy Eat World is great as well.

Bunnie Blue: Jimmy Eat World, Eve 6 & Blink 182 get the heaviest rotation in my car.

MM - What short phrase would best describe you as an individual?

Bunnie Blue: Proud & Eccentric.

Randall: Dreamer with a plan ...

MM - What is the local music scene like where you live? Is it a good place to be for a band or is it clogged up following the latest rock boy band?

You can make a scene whatever place you are in, as long as there is a buzz happening.

MM - In fact, do you think Sixty-10 could be described as the latest rock boy band? Are you going to get the girlies camping outside your doorstep?

Dreams Become Truth, Truth Becomes Reality. Isn't that part of the reason that someone would deal with all of this b.s.

MM - When you hit the big time and you're selling out massive arenas all over the States, how will you ensure that all that success doesn't go to your head?

Don't worry it already has. Seriously, we are grounded in the way that we look at things and appreciate all of the support.

MM - OK, now for a fun question. If you could be a new breed of superhero, what would your name be and what special powers would you have?

Randall: Tashmeer Lex. I would be able to see through doors and windows and be able to receive 350 channels that all had something good on 24/7.

Bunnie Blue: The name would stay the same and my power would be to see the future no matter how terrible a concept that it really is.

MM - Lastly, is there anything you'd like to say to all your fans out there?

Randall & Bunnie Blue: Thank you for your continued support and we'll continue to be there for you.
